How to dress for your yoga class?

People often aske me how French women do to maintain such a great shape. We are no gym junkies at all! We do walk and bike (merci Velib') a lot but for the past 5 years or so we have started including some exercices to our weekly routine. Yeah! So were most French women hide on Saturday mornings? At their waterbike or yoga class!

Ok so the class is booked, now what do you wear not to look like a replicata of a dancer from Flashdance??

It is now possible to find some smart & elegant outfits without paying crazy money...Salvation will come from brands such as Amaerican Apparal, Mango, H&M, all have affordable sportwear ranges. But make sure your yoga attire is made of the following clothing:

1. Bra

Yoga is a low-impact fitness activity that does not generally involve frequent or vigorous jostling of the breasts. Still, when practicing yoga you may find yourself in poses where comfort and containment of the breasts become concerns. Therefore a yoga bra should fit well for comfort, coverage and support.

Tip: when choosing a bra for yoga, look for the details that can help ensure comfort and support. They include adjustable straps to help customize the fit; lining in the cups to prevent overexposure; and mesh panels in the back and sides to reduce weight. Choose fabrics with wicking properties, which move moisture away from your body as you sweat. This is essential if you practice hot yoga :)!

2. Tops

Avoid t-shirts, loose tanks and short tops. T-shirts are a definite no-no as they'll just end up falling over your head every time you come into Down Dog. But loose tanks might be distracting as well, especially if you're not into letting your belly show.

I'm all about long, fitted tanks because they stay put and keep you covered no matter whether you twist, bend backward, or flip upside down.

3. Bottoms

Long or cropped, anything you feel most confortable in!

However, I wouldn't recommend wearing shorts to a yoga class. You want to feel confident that you're completely covered when doing poses where you're bending forward or sticking your leg in the air.

Tip: avoid light-colored bottoms as these tend to be see-through no matter how thick the fabric is. Do wear black, navy blue, chocolate, or another dark-colored.

Conclusion: go for fitted cropped or full-length dark colored leggings...and avoid loose sweatpants :)!

4. Hoodie

After your class, keep your body warm with a hoodie!

5. Shoes

Even though yoga doesnt require any kind of foorwear, just to make to total look consistent pick a pair of sneakers...New Balance, Stan Smith, Nike, Vans or Converse all fashionable, all good :)!.

And don't forget your mat and your evian bottle!
