Bonjour les amis!
It's freezing outside and you are probably wondering how to keep warm without sacrifing your style...no need to look like a snowman, you can stay warm and still be chic & elegant...follow the guide :)
Oversized scraves
French women adoooore scarves and when it's cold outside, oversized scraves are just a no brainer...pick yours!
Hats
Parisians tend to cover more and more their heads but please no beret, no mickey mouse or other panda hats and ear muffs are a big no too :)!!! Only the following are acceptable:
Le Bonnet
Beanies are the best option...
La Capeline
Another alternative would be the floppy hat, also very elegant...
Le Chapeau
And the last option remains the classic hat...
Coats
We, French women, consider coats as a timeless piece and therefore as a long term investment so we would rather prefer a classic cut and color to a very trendy piece that will last only one season. Color wise, you know how much we loooove neutral colors so no big surprise when it comes to coats :).
You can't go wrong with a black coat...
Camel, grey, navy coats...
Be 100% Parisian: invest in the sooo famous famous Maje coat copied sooo many times since 2010...un classique!
So neutral colors are the key to a timeless coat...however, I love this light blue coat seen on most of the calwalks
OK you are getting sick of the all neutral wardrobe? Well to brighten-up your outfits, my quick fix is to pick a coloful scarf or handbag...
The secret weapon
Time to share a secret...A few year ago, Japanese brand Uniqlo has come up with a brillant idea...the Uniqlo ultra light down jacquet. It's extremely light but soooo warm. It can be worn as a light layer during mid season or under heavier coats when it's colder. The water-repellent material keeps you super warm without the puffy bulky style thus the slim silhouette :).

Tip: When you are travelling, the Uniqlo light down is probably the best coat to pack
Bundle-up!
Layering is an excellent idea to fight the cold. Just a few tips to nail it down:
no more than 4 layers
always start with the lightest and finish with the tickest clothes
ej: dress / cardigan/ jean (leather) jacket / winter coat
Tip: for a slimming effect, just remember this simple rule: the top layer should be darker than the one below
And don't forget the fabrics....
French women pay a lot of attention to fabrics....we like our fabrics to be good quality, elegant and we don't mind paying extra to have it dried cleaned :)!
Think cashmere (French women's fav!!!), mohair, whool...
